COVID Safety Measures

While we continue to follow the latest government guidelines and advice on the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lowther Pavilion might be a little bit different if you haven’t visited for a while.

In light of the most recent government announcement, we’ve created this page to keep you up to date on everything we’re doing to keep you safe when visiting our venue.

Booking your tickets

Our shows are non-socially distanced, however, where seating allows, we will offer the facility for socially-distanced seating.

Tickets for all performances can be booked online at, over the phone on 01253 794221 or in person at our Box Office.

Our Box Office is open:

Mon – Sun: 10am – 4pm

Sat: 9am – 4pm

We will send you a pre-show email 72 hours before your performance with all the information you need.

Before your visit

You should carry out your own personal risk assessment prior to attending an event.

We recommend you buy your tickets in advance should be purchased in advance. Although our Box Office is open as usual, buying your tickets ahead of your visit helps us to cut down on the amount of people in our foyer at one time and ensures you get the best seats possible.

We ask that you only bring what you need on your visit to our venue.

You must not attend our venue if you are displaying COVID-19 symptoms and agree that if any member of your party develops COVID-19 symptoms in the interim, that they will also not attend the Theatre. A list of Covid-19 symptoms is shown below:

  • Cough in the last 7 days
  • Unusual Shortness of Breath on activity for two or more consecutive days
  • New Shortness of Breath at rest
  • Fever/FeelingHot/Sweating
  • Loss of Smell
  • Loss of Taste
  • Red Eyes or Sticky Eyes
  • Diarrhoea
  • New Runny Nose
  • New Blocked Nose
  • Sore Throat

Upon arrival

You will be allowed into the building 45 minutes before the published start time of the show. We ask that you wear a face covering as you enter and move around our building, unless medically exempt or a child under the age of 11 years.

A member of our Front of House team will scan your ticket and direct you into the bar or auditorium.

Public toilets are available in the the Lowther Gardens if you need access before entering the building.

The bar will open 45 minutes before the start of the performance.

During your visit

We encourage you to wear a face mask when moving around the building or in your seat in the auditorium when not eating or drinking. We can provide a face mask if you have not brought one. This is in line with the latest government guidelines and for the continued protection of staff, volunteers, and all audience members.

If you need to use the toilet facilities during a show, we ask that you try and wait for a suitable interval, follow the directional markings and wear a face mask.

Whilst in the theatre, please follow signs and obey instructions from staff, volunteers, and public address announcements.

At the end of the performance, we will ask audience member to leave via the exit indicated by staff and volunteers.

We are continuing to take the following precautions every day to keep our team and audience as safe as we possibly can:

  • Enhanced cleaning.
  • Hand-sanitiser stations.
  • Wearing of face coverings is encouraged when moving around inside the
    venue and sat in your seat unless eating or drinking.
  • Building monitored to avoid over crowding.
  • Contactless ticketing, security and temperature checks.
  • Restricted stage-door activities post-show.
  • Audiences recommended to bring minimal possessions.
  • Enhanced ventilation for all shows.
  • Where seating numbers allow, we will offer the facility for socially distanced seating.
  • Toilets will be monitored on a regular basis.
  • All staff and volunteers masked at all times.
  • Regular testing of staff.
  • Theatre pass doors to remain open during shows.
  • Fire exits on the bar side to also remain open.
  • All staff and visitors to pass through thermal Camera on arrival at building.
  • Increased security between front and backstage areas to not allow passage especially with any groups that may have unvaccinated members


Refunds will only be given if proof of a positive COVID-19 PCR test is provided via email.
