About The Water Babies
The Storytellers Theatre Company present Outdoor theatre for all the family to enjoy. Bring along your picnics and blankets and join Tom on his journey into the water.
“A fairy tale for a land baby” is how Kingsley described this epic book. ‘The Water Babies’ is not just an entertaining story, but was written to publicise the cruel treatment given to boy sweeps like “Tom”, who were forced up chimneys by means of burning straw applied to their feet.
Our Musical production follows “Tom” through his journey into the water, meeting all the strange creatures you can imagine on the way. This family production is sure to both entertain and enthral and brings to the stage all the humour and fun that is synonymous with our storytelling technique. In just about an hour you too will have met all the wondrous creatures that live under the sea and a few “Land People” as well! Your Journey continues until you meet “Mrs Doasyouwouldbedoneby” or is it “Mrs Bedonebyasyoudid?” If you want to know who it was that ‘Tom’ met, and how the ‘Dog Star’ in the sky came to be named?
Please be aware, 75p per ticket will be added to ticket prices, which goes towards the cost we have to pay to the banks for handling card transactions. This is added at the end of your booking.
