Woofers final show of 2019 is billed as a "Its not Christmas spectacular!" (Mainly down to Phil's Panto commitments!). The show promises to bring Woofers shows for this year to a close in truly spectacular fashion with this fantastic line up of comedy featuring headliner & one of the best comics on the Planet, Mr Sean Collins. His unique style of observational storytelling has been honed for over 20 years. In 2000, Sean was nominated for two prestigious Canadian Comedy Awards – ‘Best Male Stand Up’ & ‘Comic’s Comedy Special’. In 2002, Sean had his first hour-long TV special as part of CTV’s ‘Comedy Now’ series, and building on this momentum, he performed a gala set at the 2003 ‘Just For Laughs Festival’ in Montreal.Since leaving Canada for the UK and calling Gosport home, Sean Collins is now a headline favourite firmly established on the UK comedy club and corporate circuit. He has written and performed 3 highly successful Edinburgh Festival shows, receiving rare five-star reviews and a ‘Best of Fest’ accolade. In 2010 and 2011, Sean won the Portsmouth Guide Award for Best Comedy Act. His numerous television appearances include: The World Stands Up Special on Comedy Central, The Comedy Store Television Show and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow on BBC1. "A pleasure to indulge." - The Scotsman.
Joining Sean is probably the best thing to have come out of Manchester since Boddingtons beer, the hilarious Steve Harris. Steve first leapt on stage back in August 1998 and within 3 months had won himself the coveted North-West comedian of the year award after just 5 gigs. A finalist of the BBC new comedy awards and Channel 4’s “So you think you’re funny” in the same year. Steve went on to headline all of the top comedy clubs in the UK including venues as far flung as Hong Kong and Australia. With his ever-expanding reputation the demand for Steve has come from all different types of media outlets including Radio and Television. With support slots with the likes of Johnny Vegas, Peter Kay and Lee Evans, Steve comes highly recommended from the heavy weights of comedy themselves. "Quite simply, fantastically funny." - BBC.
Sandwiched in between these two comedy heavweight's is one very funny lady, Lou Conran. A regular MC at The comedy store, Lou is in high demand in all the big clubs all over the UK. She has recently supported Sarah Millican and Joe Lycett on their national tours and appeared in her very own one woman shows at the Edinburgh Festival winning critical acclaim for her 2017 show "I love Lou C" which led to a run at the Soho theatre in London's westend. "Naturally Funny" - Sarah Millican.
Hosted as per by local *award winning comedy legend Phil Walker, this promises to be a its not Christmas cracker of a show so book early to avoid disappointment!
*egg & spoon champion 1982 St.Bedes high school. "This boy will go far....the further the better" - Mr Harrison, Headmaster.
