Into The Woods

NW1 Theatre School brings to life the intricate and poignant themes of family, responsibility, and the complexity of human desires, all set to Stephen Sondheim’s enchanting music and lyrics.

“Into the Woods” intertwines the stories of several beloved fairy tale characters, each with their unique wishes and quests. The narrative follows The Baker and his wife, who desperately wish for a child but are cursed by a witch. To break the curse, they must venture into the woods to retrieve magical items from other fairy tale characters: Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk; and Little Red Riding Hood, who is on her way to visit her grandmother. As their paths cross, they encounter Rapunzel, the Witch’s daughter, and the charming but flawed Princes. By the end of the first act, it seems that everyone has achieved their wishes and will live happily ever after. However, the second act reveals the consequences of their actions, as a vengeful giant threatens the Kingdom. The characters must come together to face their fears and make sacrifices to restore order.
