One of the great singer/songwriters to emerge from the 80’s Liverpool music scene, founder and lead singer with chart topping The Icicle Works, Ian McNabb comes to Lowther Pavilion, Lytham on Thursday 19 April 2026.
McNabb with his rich, resonant voice crafted a unique blend of post-punk and new wave, adding lush melodies and poetic lyricism. The Icicle Works, famous for their UK and US Top 40 hits ‘Love Is A Wonderful Colour’ and ‘Whisper To A Scream’ (Birds Fly)’.
The Icicle Works became part of the Liverpool renaissance movement of the eighties alongside acts such as Echo And The Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, WAH!, Heat, OMD, Black, Dead Or Alive, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Lotus Eaters, and China Crisis.
After The Icicle Works, McNabb’s solo career continued to showcase his songwriting prowess, often blending rock, folk, and soul. His music resonates with a timeless quality that captivates both old fans and new listeners alike. The Mercury Music Prize nominated artist continues to write stunning songs with warmth, humour, cynicism and grandeur.
