Adult Theatre Group & Training

We believe that learning doesn’t stop once we leave school; people of any age can learn and share skills. Since a successful pilot in May-June 2022, we have run an Adult Theatre Group for all levels of experience.  Entry to the group does not rely on previous experience and there are no auditions.  All welcome.

Adult Theatre Group (Ages 18+)

Monday 6pm – 7.45pm

Learn new skills, meet different people and be inspired. The regular tutor is Hellen Kirby; a professional actor, working in theatre and TV who teaches for drama schools and theatres. Sessions include script work, trust exercises, acting for camera, writing, improvisation, devising and performing work to an invited audience. Guest tutors have also shared one-off introductions to stage fighting, voice, comedy and musical theatre.

We try to create variation in the sessions, listening to feedback from the people attending, to keep flexible and responsive.

Why do people attend?

To make friends, to try something different, to build your confidence, to develop or brush up on previous theatre training and skills….? There are no right or wrong reasons.

Current work:

October to December 2023: the group are creating characters and monologues to share in December.

In January 2024, we begin working on a script.

“…an instructive introduction to theatre, acting and story telling. I had no prior knowledge or experience and the adult theatre group has been a great way to learn. I’m glad I’m part of this shared experience.”
