In October 2022, we piloted a drama project for 6-10 and 11-16 year olds being educated at home. A year on, age groups are adjusted to suit participants and we are piloting two new groups. Families now build the drama sessions into each week; the play and picnic meet ups in Lowther Gardens strengthen friendship and support.
Reasons for deregistering vary. We welcome parent, carer and young people’s feedback and advice in removing potential barriers. We aim to encourage respect, fun, skills, creativity and friendship.
Monday 11am-12.30pm (new)
Children start to get to know each other, learning names, taking turns and working together. We combine creative and sensory play in a child-centred session, where we can use creative stimuli to spark new stories, characters and worlds.
Wednesday 11am – 12.30pm
Juniors develop drama skills and confidence. We play games, use imagination, make friends and create original, quirky and comical stories and shows to share with friends and family.
Wednesday 9.30am – 11am
We use drama games and improvisation to create original work, making friends, building confidence and creativity. Nobody is pressured to participate. We aim to create a space where people feel respected, welcomed and safe to be themselves.
Monday 9.30am – 11am (new)
This is an extension of the previous Senior group, with performance and learning opportunities appropriate for mid to late teens. Sessions will build confidence, creativity and friendship. Nobody will be pressured to participate until they are ready, but can enjoy sessions where they feel safe, respected and welcomed.
All groups cost £5 each week.
No auditions or experience necessary.
All sessions are at Lowther Pavilion Theatre* (Studio or Stage)
*or at an alternative local venue if the theatre is booked.
