Singing by the Sea: Music For All!

Celebrate the power of music and the joy of singing together with Connect Community Choir and Mayfield Primary School in an evening of uplifting singing and music for all ages. Tonight’s performance is the culmination of a community funded musical adventure where choir members and Year 5 pupils got to know each other through art, play and music workshops, singing songs from 1956 to 2016 and sharing lots of memories and laughter along the way. Artwork and installations inspired by the songs and created by the children, choir members and Connect More Art & Peer Support Group will also be on display for everyone to enjoy.

This unique and totally inclusive project has connected the generations within our community, including people living with dementia and other chronic illnesses, through workshops and singing sessions evoking positive memories and sharing life stories and creativity. Extracts of these stories will be shown during the performance and the audience will be invited to share their favourite songs and memories to add to a legacy journal illustrating the power of music and creating a unique playlist of songs from tonight’s performance. Please come and join us – singing is entirely optional but you may find it hard to resist joining in!
