The Lowther Gardens (Lytham) Trust is a registered charity.
Since 2016 the Trust has embarked on a bold redevelopment plan for both the Pavilion Theatre and Gardens in Lytham St Annes
As part of the redevelopment the Trust are in final stages of fit out for the Windmill Performance and Education Centre a £3M new build space that will open in April 2025. As part of our design concept for the building we are running this new competition to support and promote the work of visual artists within the new space.
The external gate will be lazer cut with the winning design which will have to celebrate the work of the new building. This will be offset with a solid back that will have led lighting encased.
The Gate will prominently face Lytham green at the front of the new building.
Sizes for the gate and position are enclosed under separate cover.
We are inviting everyone over the age of 16 to participate. Do you wish to be part of it?
Would you like to see your artwork/ design lazer cut into the new gates at the front of the Windmill Performance and Education Centre.
Terms & Conditions
- Registration is free
- The Gate design must be inspired by the work that is currently done at the Lowther Pavilion and the future work in both education, community and performance being done in the Windmill Performance and Education Centre. It may also reflect the local environment of the park, estuary or other local landmarks.
- The design must be suitable to be lazer cut into the gate.
- Competitors should present their work to scale and in JPG format.
- No AI generated images will be accepted.
- Competitors may submit as many entries as they wish, but must be their own work.
- The Competition will Judged by representatives of the Lowther Trust, Creative Sparc Architects, the venues Artistic Director and the fabrication Company.
- Judging will take place on Monday 3rd of February 2025
- The closing date for entries to be received is 31st January 2025 at 12 mid day.
- The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- An Email with your artwork/ design must include your name and contact details.
- By submitting your artwork/ design you are agreeing to the competition rules in their entirety.
- Reasonable care will be taken of all artwork/ design, but please note – All entries are submitted at the Competitor’s own risk.
- By entering this competition it is taken that you have given your permission to use your artwork/ design if so chosen.
- The winning competitor will receive a prize of £750
- The Trust reserves the right to not award the prize if no suitable winning entry can be chosen.
Judging Criteria
- Any entries not complying to the competition rules will not be put forward for judging.
- Artwork will be judged by a panel comprising of representatives of the Lowther Trust, Creative Sparc Architects, the venues Artistic Director and the fabrication Company.
- The panel will assess the quality of the artwork, creativity, originality, subject matter, the overall impression of the work and the way in which this design will transfer to the selected medium of the gate.
