Young people are being invited to step into a world of adventure at the Lowther Pavilion Theatre & Gardens as the highly anticipated reopening of their redesigned children’s play area is set to open officially on Tuesday 17th December 2024.
Tim Lince, Lowther’s CEO/Artistic Director, said: “It will be a fantastic addition to the park with not only new sensory play equipment but also more seating and shelter for parents to watch their children at play. We pride ourselves as being a family friendly outdoor space and encourage everybody to experience both creative and outdoor play in our beautiful gardens. To help celebrate next year there will be an outdoor production of Alice in Wonderland taking to the gardens.”
Themed around Lewis Carroll’s timeless tale, the Alice in Wonderland based design has been created and installed by ESP Play Ltd
The newly designed space, which accommodates children of all ages and abilities, comes following a play area audit that identified several parks that would greatly benefit from some remedial and replacement wors to equipment and surfacing.
Visitors will be able to enjoy:
- The bespoke Wonderland Play Tower
- Inclusive roundabout
- An inclusive see saw to be installed in the New Year
“We’re delighted to see Lowther Pavilion’s children’s play area transformed into a wonderland inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” says Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism and Leisure at Fylde Council. “This fantastic new space will provide a fun and stimulating environment for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy, and perfectly complements the beautiful Lowther Gardens. We encourage families to come down and explore the new equipment, and perhaps even get a sneak peek of the upcoming Alice in Wonderland production next year!”
The new playground has been made possible due to a funded budget included within Fylde Council’s capital programme for 2023/24.
